About Friends of Musique et Vin au Clos Vougeot (FOMV)

Founded in 2018, Friends of Musique et Vin au Clos Vougeot (FOMV) is a U.S. tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting exceptional young musicians from around the world. Through scholarships, instrument loans, performance opportunities, awards, travel assistance, and educational programs, FOMV helps the next generation of classical artists.

FOMV also provides sponsorship and financial support for the annual Musique et Vin au Clos Vougeot festival in Burgundy, France, founded in 2008 by Aubert de Villaine and Bernard Hervet; one of the world’s most celebrated festivals where internationally renowned musicians perform alongside emerging artists. The festival just celebrated its 18th edition in June 2026.

Fostering a vibrant Franco-American cultural partnership has been central to FOMV’s mission. Through concerts, fundraising events, and collaborations in both the United States and France, FOMV has built a nationwide community of supporters committed to preserving and advancing classical music.

Over the years, FOMV has hosted fundraising galas in New York and San Francisco, featuring exceptional performances by internationally acclaimed musicians alongside extraordinary wines from Burgundy’s most distinguished domaines.

MILESTONES

• 2019: FOMV hosted its inaugural concert and fundraising dinner at the French Consulate in New York City. Proceeds commissioned a violin by renowned master luthier Samuel Zygmuntowicz, which was awarded as a multi-year loan to Blaire Kim, winner of FOMV’s 2023 Violin Competition at Lincoln Center. In 2025, the instrument was transferred to the next competition winner, Adriana Bec, continuing the organization’s instrument loan legacy.
• 2020: During the COVID-19 pandemic, FOMV produced a virtual concert and fundraiser from the Château du Clos de Vougeot, directing proceeds to professional musicians whose livelihoods had been disrupted by the global shutdown.
• 2024: FOMV commissioned a concert cello by acclaimed luthiers Moes & Moes, in collaboration with Yo-Yo Ma. The instrument was awarded in October 2025 to competition winner Lila Holyoke as a multi-year performance loan.
